Group 0 / 1 Group 0 / 1 car seats are two way facing seats for use rearwards facing from birth to 13kg, and then forward facing until 18kg in weight. Models are available from Britax and Concord.
Group 1 Group 1 car seats are forward facing for use by children between 9 - 18kg in weight and are made by Britax, Maxi Cosi, Recaro and Bebe Confort.
Rearward Facing Group 1 Not widely available in the UK but used by all in the Nordic countries as its widely accepted that children travelling rearward facing are better protected in an accident situation.
Group 1, 2, 3 and Group 2 & 3 Group 1,2,3 car seats are suitable for children from 9kg upto 18kg with the seat harness and then upto 36kg using the adult seat belt in the car. Group 2,3 seats are from 15kg to 36kg and use the car seat belts to restrain the child. Both types have added support and safety features from the higher back and deeply padded wings.
