Britax, Recaro, Maxi Cosi, Kiddy, Brio and BeSafe car seats are available in models to suit all weights and ages of child until a seat is no longer required at 1.35m in height.
Group 0 / 1 car seats are two way facing seats for use rearwards facing from birth to 13kg, and then forward facing until 18kg in weight. Models are available from Britax and Maxi Cosi.
Not widely available in the UK but used by all in the Nordic countries as its widely accepted that children travelling rearward facing are better protected in an accident situation.
Group 1,2,3 car seats are suitable for children from 9kg upto 18kg with the seat harness and then upto 36kg using the adult seat belt in the car. Group 2,3 seats are from 15kg to 36kg and use the car seat belts to restrain the child. Both types have added support and safety features from the higher back and deeply padded wings.
Group 2-3 High Back Booster seats are combination seats which can be used between the weights of 15kg and 36kg. Included in this category are the Recaro Monza and Monza Seatfix, Britax Kid range, Maxi Cosi Ferofix and many others.
The Isofix system of attaching seat belts was originally introduced by Britax but has now been adopted by all motor manufacturers in the EEC with models available from Britax, Maxi Cosi, Recaro with more being introduced all the time.
