Bases are generally used for ease of putting an infant carrier into the car easily and quickly without the need for using the car seat belts. Several bases are available dependant on your car and can be a belt fit only, an Isofix only or a mixture of both, generally speaking most bases are only for use with the Infant carrier but recently more modular systems have come to the fore so that the same Isofix base can be used for both the Infant Carrier as well as the group 1 seat.
